Overview and History

The name Prismo can be traced back through the mist of time to circa 1930, under the trading name of Prismo Safety Corporation, Huntingdon PA USA. The Prismo of today perhaps started a little closer when in 1968 Redland bought the UK firm Universal Highways and then in 1969 Prismo Safety Corporation and between them formed Prismo Universal and around that time developed a sprayplastic system and a spraygrip system for the safety surfacing of roads.

In 1985 Redland sold Prismo Universal to Shell who in turn later sold the company to a management buyout under the name Streamline Holdings.

In 1998 Streamline sold the Business to Jarvis Rail PLC who from the records back then valued the business at £184 million they held tenure of the business up to December 2006 when the company was purchased by Ennis Texas.

During its history Prismo has acquired many companies many of which form the backbone of Prismo as we know it today, Norman Smith, Valley Roadmarking, Pathwedge, Zebraflex, C&C Roadmarkings, Berger Traffic Products and more recently Somerset White Lining.

In the Eighties and Nineties Prismo was heavily involved across the globe and formed many successful Joint ventures in the Americas, Africa, Middle and Far East Australasia and Europe, but by the turn of the century began to lose its way in the service and delivery of service to many of its valued customers and partners.

In December 2006 a new management team took over the running of the company and with the financial backing of Ennis started to restructure the heavily loss making company into a profitable business once again, with a purpose and clear objectives in going forward for the next 75 years.
